Hello all,

A friend gave me this server and I wanted to use it at my basement but no matter what I try, it doesn't boot.

It turns on, but then suddenly turns off showing the two CPU temp LEDs on red.

What I've did so far:

- PRAM
- SMC
- On board battery replacement
- Testing PSUs Voltages and they're OK
- Cleaning PSU contacts
- Swapping PSUs
- Different memory modules and quantity
- Thermal paste replacement
- Clean thermistor connector
- Booting with or without HDDs

Don't have another xeon for this platform, but it looks like it isn't the issue.

And I don't know if I forgot something.... it's a pitty if I'll have to scrap it, please help :)

Did you find an answer? Have the same issue just started with a 2012 MP5.1. Fires up for half a second and then switches off with both CPU over temp LED’s flashing red.
Was working fine last time I switched it on, the CPU’s can’t be hot after half a second. Can’t get it to power up to try keyboard SMC reset etc. Have tried removing graphics card and replacing 3v battery. Going to try removing other cards and drives tomorrow to see if it makes a difference. Anything you’ve found would be appreciated !

Fans maybe. You got the normal answers already. Try resetting everything if it lets you. battery, pull it out and put it back in. try pulling any cards (raid), otherwise it's something on main board and probably not fixable, boards are sill available. also try the guy in NY city that fixes mac boards all long shots

I've already done that with no success. The thing is that the server was pulled out working and I'm guessing the EFI eeprom is corrupted, but I'm unable to find any backup out there.

btw I'm not from us
