I have a late 2006 dual 2.66 GHZ Xeon xserve. I was wondering if the internals of it can be put in another case for example a MacPro or PowerMac case. I realize I'd lose the hot swap riser, but that's not the biggest deal. Just using for file serving and time machine backup.

Worst case I can stick in a closet and let it run there.

thanks,
Rob

The xserve redundant power supplies are super noisy. Just don't need a rack server so I thought I'd gut it.

I guess I'll sell it for a couple hundred bucks.

Those boards are fairly massively flat and long. You'd need to do a stupid amount of work for internals that may not be worth $300.00 anymore.

Agreed, listed it f/s. I'm using an old mini to just serve as time machine.
