Have you tried it yet? How's the video chat quality?

I just tried to start a video chat with a friend signed in on the Mac version of Yahoo messenger. It either goes to voice chat or doesn't give the option to start a webcam session. As for the iPhone to iPhone video chat over wi-fi it was quite bad. The video is small and blocky with a low frame rate.

so no iphone to pc video chat?

is there another app that can do this ?

It does say that there is iPhone to PC chat but I haven't tried it with a Windows PC. I tried to video chat with two different Macs and it didn't work.

YM on the Mac is very limited. Does it even support video chat?
Yes, the Mac version supports both video and voice calling.

it seems like the hardest thing for developers to do is update there app to retina

how much are these voice calls?

I just did it over wifi.......iPhone to iPhone and the video quality sucks bad. Small, choppy, blurry video, horrible quality.....voice had serious echo.
It pales in comparison to Facetime.

video calling w/Yahoo Messenger

I would love a viable option for making iPhone > Mac calls via 3G (or even wi-fi), but i have a very difficult time trusting Yahoo to get this done. I feel as if Apple will roll this out in 4.2.x, a Snow Leopard update, or in a new iLife version.
Yahoo Messenger was garbage when it was only text. I shudder to think of how many holes and bugs a video chat application built by the same people would have.

We all know that the technology is there, but I'm not sure I want one of the first apps to capitalize on it. I'd rather wait for a quality, tested version from another big name.
