I originally had a Yahoo Mail Plus account (POP3 Access), which did not work with iphone.

So I have set up a new yahoo account.
When putting my information in iPhone (name, address, password) i get this error:

The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect

I have checked, rechecked, re-entered many, many times, but still same message. anyone else getting problems setting up their account

First, are you going through the iphone email setup using the yahoo choice or are you entering an account manually?

Here are the steps I used with my existing free yahoo account:

1) on the iphone - main menu-> settings -> mail -> add account -> y! mail -> enter information -> save -> go back to accounts list and select the new account -> advanced -> in the settings (IMAP Path Prefix) enter imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com

2) Make sure the account is on.

3) Sometimes the "push" is within seconds, sometimes it takes a couple minutes. My guess is they're still working on the server from the yahoo side. It's only been active for 5 days, so give it some time.

I tried this but I continue to get a message saying "Load 25 more messages... 105 messages total, 0 unread."

Then I can tap on it, it "thinks" like it is acquiring more mail and the message changes to "Loading 25 more messages..." then...nothing. Goes right back to the original message and I cannot see any email from yahoo.

I have seen yahoo mail on my iphone previously. Then I started getting this message as posted above.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Didn't want to reply until I did some research.

Here's what's going on:

With the yahoo push, when the account inbox is open on the iphone, it shows ALL the messages on the yahoo server for that account in the message on the bottom of your screen. This includes spam file messages which your yahoo spam filter catches. However, the iphone only "pushes" the emails that go into your inbox, therefore, while the phone shows 25 or however more messages and a bunch of unread, what your seeing are the contents of the spam file. Do a test. Go on your computer when you see a bunch of messages on the iphone. Empty the spam folder and trash and refresh the iphone. The number will have gone down.

It's annoying but not a true bug, imho.

For the record I have a Yahoo Mail Plus account (have for about 2+ years) and it works perfectly on the iPhone with the advantage of not having advertisements in my emails, etc.
