It seems like my Yahoo push email is starting to work, but I just sent an email and the other person said they never received my email when it normally works from my previous phone....

I also still have the "loading messages" in my inbox...

Anyone have any insight? Thanks

Its pretty up and down for me, so I'm not 100% sure what to tell you other than make sure you use the IMAP prefix imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com under Advanced settings.

Adding the prefix makes my folders (drafts, trash, etc) disappear... Does it do that for you? And do you still have the "Load xx more messages..." message?

Just for testing purposes, create a new free Yahoo account and set it up on the iPhone using the Yahoo! mail account shortcut, and try again. Does it work for you now?

I'll give it a try, but you shouldn't have to do that... lol I'll let you know...

Seems without the prefix, everything is working fine except one thing:

In the "INBOX" I keep getting the message to "Load xx messages... xx total, and xx unread)

Can't seem to get that to go away!

Tried that, I got the same. I lost all my folders with the exception of the inbox.

i have had the same problems for almost a week now(since i got my phone)...i can receive and can not send no matter what changes i make...doesnt matter...i am pissed!

Yahoo not sending

my situation is the same. i have just a yahoo free account - nothing else on the iphone. when i compose and send an email, the status bar at the bottom completes and everything looks normal. i go to the sent folder and no email. i never get the email that i sent to myself (not my yahoo). basically, everything works with my yahoo except i have no ability to send email. wtf?

Same issue here. The status bar will act the message is uploading and will make the noise confirming that it has been sent, but the mail never appears in the sent folder nor does it arrive on the other end.

Just a side note on this, yahoo DID work perfectly for a day..after that it blew up and is doing the same thing as others are saying. i hit send and the bar goes on the bottom as its sending and thats it...nothing goes through...sucks. had to go back to gmail and that sucks now too...

Just a note. I suffered from the same problem. To fix it I logged into the Web based yahoo client and sent a email. It prompted me to enter one of those computer generated codes to prevent automated mailers from accessing your account and emailing lots of people. After I did this I could email from my iphone again.

i've heard this being the solution (sending an email from web based yahoo and inputting spam code). but on my yahoo account whenever i send an email from it i have never seen this page. i created a new yahoo id and when i send an email i do get the page, but not on my older yahoo id. frustrating to say the least!

Yahoo! definately has some reliability issues, maybe associated with so many iphones hopping onto the IMAP bus at once.
Mine has been spotty. But here are some truths:
- The first time you send/recieve email, do it using Edge.
- You can just leave the IMAP path under advanced settings to the default. The one floating around these forums isn't needed.
- Yahoo push seems to work best if it is the only mail account on the iphone, but it has worked for me with multiple accounts.
- If there is a problem with send or receive. Try rebooting the phone, then sync it, then as a last resort send and receive email by logging into your account manually via Yahoo.com. Each of these has cleared up performance issues, not neccesarily doing all of them.
- If yours never worked, delete the account under settings/mail and then regenerate a Yahoo account and ONLY enter your yahoo name and password. Don't touch advanced settings. Then, with wifi off, try a few tests. After it works, wifi is fine to use. I just understand the initial establishment of the IMAP usage on the account needs to occur via Edge or problems might develop.

This solved my problem. I think the part about using EDGE ONLY for the SETUP was the part that worked for me.

My Problem now is that I can't get the "My Folders" to PUSH. The only PUSH happens for the INBOX Folder. I have Filters setup (on the web interface) that puts email into separate folders. For those folders I have to actually select them for the mail to download. However, INBOX mail is being PUSHED and I am notified automatically.

Any ideas on this?

Thank you! This problem had been driving me crazy ever since I got my iPhone, but your solution fixed it. :)

problem is that you will suffer from it again. I switched to yahoo mail for push. Ive been nothing but disappointed with it. By the way the computer generated code is called a captcha. Here's hoping that some one at yahoo us ironing all these issues out.

Off topic. Looks like your in the dfw area. I'm just north of downtown Dallas. Bought my phone at Knox apple store on iday. :)

I have been so pissed off when I could not send e-mails. I tried everything I could think of and wasted hours on the phone with AT&T and Apple until they finally told me that it's a Yahoo problem and there is nothing they can do.

Your solution worked like a charm. I don't care if it is a recurring problem...at least I can fix it now.

This Apple/Yahoo partnership is not as integrated as I thought. What a sham!

Again, my sincere THANKS! :)

It's been so far so good these last two days since taking your advice. I've never had trouble with getting the push to work at all with incoming mail, it was just that I couldn't send any mail until I went on the web site and entered the code for outgoing mail.

Yep, my girlfriend and I got ours at the Southlake store on launch day. :)

Same problem here. It seems that it lets you send emails from the iphone then it stops. YOU then have to go to yahoo web interface and enter the security code before it lets u send again. This is extremely annoying and what's the point in using it in the first place. Come on now YAHOO. Can't their servers distinguish between an Iphone user and non Iphone user considering that "push" functionality is exclusive to accounts on an Iphone. I will stop complaining and tell u guys my workaround.

I have two accounts set up on my phone. One is my ISP email which is set up as the default for sending emails while I had my incoming emails get forwarded to Yahoo's "push" email. It seems to work fine. The ideal situation is to have just my yahoo account on the iphone.

Another Knox store purchaser on iDay here. :)

I too have had issues sending email - a power cycle restores that functionality. So I'm not sure if it's an iPhone issue, or Yahoo...

Web Email for Sending so I have set the FROM

I am doing something similiar. I use web mail to send email so that I can have a FROM email address that matches the email being forwarded to Yahoo Push. I do this for my work email which I don't do a lot of reply mail.

Ok this is very weird. I am having tihs problem as well, but even when I log into the webmail interface and try to send a message it shows it sends but I never get it. I tried 3 different email accounts and I have not gotten it yet. Sometimes it prompted me to enter the security code sometimes it didnt.

Not sure how many other people are still having this problem but I emailed Yahoo and this is the response I got.

Has anyone successfully used the "extra email address" with the Yahoo! mail on iPhone? For instance, I set up "myrealnameMobile" as the extra account for Y! mail but have been unsuccessful logging with both my primary and extra account with my iPhone.

I may try setting up again when I am away from my office WiFi and on EDGE.
