I setup yahoo email and the "push" aspect seems to work fine and is fairly quick. When I send email from my iphone, it's hit or miss whether it gets delivered. Sent 5 emails the other day, only 2 made it.

I use a webhost for my laptop email and have setup a "cel" address to use for my iphone. I can setup an account on my iphone for that "cel" email address and can send an recieve just fine. It works great but, of course, no "push" from the webhost server.

So, I'd like to setup an account on the iphone that receives from yahoo (for push functionality) but is sent through my webhost server (since yahoo has problems delivering email). I'd setup my webhost email to automatically forward to the yahoo account to get the "push" functionality.

Seems like I'd just go into the iphone setting for the yahoo account and change the outgoing mail server. It does let you add other serves, but you can't turn off the default yahoo server. When I turn it off it just turns it back on.

Maybe I need to setup an email account on the iphone through the "other" option, use yahoo info for the incoming, and my own server for the outgoing to make this work? Anyone know the yahoo incoming settings I'd use?

Is it possible to do this?

that is what i did with mine. i have my primary (work) email through the Go Daddy. i had carbon copied all emails sent to my primary email to go to my yahoo email as well to take advantage of the push capabilities for incoming email. For outgoing, since Go Daddy only supports pop email, i also set up my primary email on the phone, but left the incoming server info blank and only have the outgoing server info filled out so i can "reply from" my primary and i am not getting double copies of the emails on my phone.

It's kind of a ridiculous to have to do, but it's the only way to get push with my primary email and no one knows the difference. it like i have one account (primary) i am using.

Oh.. so you just setup two accounts on the iphone. And when you reply (from within the yahoo account), you have to change the from address to your godaddy account. Hmm..

I guess that works but it would be nice to just have a single account that receives yahoo and sends godaddy.

Thanks.

it the same account. i don't have to change accounts. when i reply or forward, or create new email, i change the "from email account" at the top of the email where it shows "from this email". i just click on that and change it to my go daddy email. it just 1 extra step when replying, forwarding, or creating an email in the yahoo account, but i don't exit that account and go into the other account. it's all done form the yahoo account
