Yamaha receiver v671 or a710 itunes access?

Hi all

I am thinking of getting the Yamaha receiver either v671 or a710. It allows for wired connectivity to a home network, which my desktop computer is also on. I believe you are suppose to be able to play music from a networked PC, and it mentions Windows Media Connect, but I'm curious if there is a way for it to interface with the Apple platform/Itunes so I can stream music from my networked Mac.

The Yamaha does not have Airplay, but would rather stream from my larger music library on the mac anyhow.

I don't think you would be able to get itunes content going from pc straight to receiver. Get an apple tv, hook up hdmi or optical audio to receiver.

Serviio works well and I was using it to stream music to my Sony tv over Ethernet, all my music is in iTunes with some of it purchased on iTunes all of it played no problem. I've since bought an apple tv, and hope to buy a Yamaha receiver soon but if you only want to play music then Serviio is free and works well on a mac.http://www.serviio.org/download
