I got a QC2 back in 04 and had to replace it in 05 because the hinges were cracking. Bose sent me a replacement in two days. The replacement also lasted another yeah and recently cracked again last month. I thought i'd be outta luck but it turns out there's a two year guarntee on these products.

So i phoned Bose up again and explained the situation and they sent a new one out to me..no question asked. Received it today and its brand spanking new, you can smell the leather cushions.mmmmm.

Turns out paying that premium was somewhat worth it after all. Just hope this one doesnt crack as well cos my warranty runs out in November.

PS if i get a replacement for a product then logically the new product should carry the same two year warranty right?..since its new. Also in parallel, if your logic board gets replaced by Apple, shouldn't the new logic board carry the same 1yr limited warranty or am i just dreaming??

Absolute junk those are. I threw mine in the trash after they broke for the first time.

Yes, the warranty starts over again with each replacement. Sell them and get a pair of Shure's.

lol. I do agree that they're poorly built and would get something else if i could but i hate the earbud style phones...just not comfortable for me i like over the ear headphones. Bose do offer decent sound and comfort (not the best but decent).

Shure and Etymotic are not earbuds. They actually work more like earplugs, which are quite comfortable after you get used to them. Plus you can play at much lower volumes than standard earbuds due to the noise blocking characteristics, saving your ears. (35db for the 3flange)

(plus the er4 can be had for about 200-220 dollars, and is quite amazing in quality, similar pricing on the shure side)

Intriguing, will have to look into those

I have tried out the Bose QC2's & QC'3's. I loved them. But everyone tells me how they are really not that good. I didn't notice anything wrong with them.....and if Bose will replace the things every time they break then I don't see anything wrong with it. Am I completely wrong here. I hear a lot of people talking about the Shures but the Bose seem just as nice if not nicer.

If the sound didn't suxxorz. ;)

I agree here, the B&O headphones dont sound nearly as good as they should for their price. You're paying for form, brand, and sound fidelity last

I just have a set of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, they work fine and sound good too :D

I'm assuming by cracking you're talking about the plastic near the earpieces? If I recall correctly the new QC2s should've been reinforced a bit. So you should have better luck. It's a known problem with the QC2's so they will likely replace them no matter how long your warranty ran out. Just take them into any Bose store and they'll issue you a new pair right then and there if they have them in stock.

They stand by their products so even out of warranty they will likely replace them. The warranty does not "start over" so to speak. It starts at the time of the first purchase and ends whenever the period is over after that first purchase. Getting a replacement doesn't start it over.

Don't be too hard about the B&O earphones - they're actually not that expensive, sound fine and are very comfortable with their excellent design. However, I would put in a good word for sure. I've got a pair of E3c-s and they sound fantastic, and lasted 18 months with very heavy use, until one ear blew. They replaced it with no complaints (free 2 yr warranty), and went to the extra trouble of mailing me a new retail pack, so I got new ear covers and case as well. I'd definitely recommend them, as their service showed them to be the professional level company that they claim to be.
