I'm asking this to people who have received macbook pros recently (late may or june)... is the whine still there? I'm aware the heat hasn't gotten any better (probably won't anyway, but that doesn't bother me)... but has anyone gotten a very recent MBP that whines? just curious...

My replacement is in transit...so I guess we'll find out when it arrives. (It's being replaced because something broken, not because of the whine or heat).

Got a week 17 model here and while the "whine" is still there, it ain't bad at all.

Also, it doesn't get that hot really.

I don't know which week model I got. I got it after they bumped the specs (eg I have a @ GHz model with 512 MB of RAM. I'd guess the week after's the bumping of the specs.)

Picked up a week 22 MBP (17) on Saturday.. No problems here... I'm still having a hard time picturing what this "whine" is all about?

It's not so much a whine as a noticeable sound coming from the CPU. I do notice I have the screen buzz, but it's not all that loud (From typing distance I can't hear it).

Gotcha...
This thing is DEAD silent... I have good ears, too... Here are the noises I'll hear:
1) CD/DVD Disk access and spin
2) When doing intensive tasks, I can hear a "normal" VERY low fan... Which sounds normal to me... actually much more quiet than ANY portable I've had...

It's actually as quiet as my Mac Mini from last year :)

Got my 15" MBP yesterday.

Haven't had any of these "Moo" things.

Heat, it's warm after doing a lot of encoding and burning to DVD's etc, in no way is it HOT, my normal Powerbook G4 was probably just as hot.

The whine, only when the Magsafe is plugged in, and it's like the CPU whine noise when a CPU is hard at work, but don't get it any other time, and not something you really notice.

Apart from that, all is well and no problems.
