It's just acting funny. The computer will definently be getting a charge (as confirmed from the charge signal in the menu bar), but the amber light on the magsafe will intermittently turn off for no reason until I phsyically disconnect it from the MBP and reconnect it. Then it goes green again. For a time period of which only God knows....Does this mean my Magsafe is failing and is about to burn down my house if I don't get it replaced? Thanks.

i doubt itll burn down your house, but yes you should prolly get it replaced
 
Won't be the light - it is an LED and LED's last over 10 years.

Sounds like the magsafe charger is dying - get it checked by Apple incase.
