(Ten Internets to anyone who gets the reference)

I have in my hand an "Upgrade" copy of Windows XP SP1. The Boot Camp page on Apple clearly states that A full version with SP2 is needed. However, if I can make this work, that means I won't need to buy a copy of XP, which I am willing to do, despite the fact that I am a poor college student.

So, to business. Can I make this work?

Oh, I just read the sticky. Seems this can't be legally done. Well, guess I'll be ordering me some XP... thanks anyway, guys!

yeah, I suppose...

My PC didn't come with a Windows disc - it has all the files on a backup partition. Supposing I could get the required files off the drive, would that work? is that legal? I remember reading that OEM versions of Windows weren't eligible for BootCamp use.

I tried this with an OEM Dell edition of Windows XP w/ SP1. The installation wouldnt recognize the bootcamp partition. I ended up buying a new XP disk.

Its retarded when OEMs dont give you a reinstallation CD. IMO, never buy from an OEM that doesnt let you reinstall your own software. A backup partition doesnt cut it. What happens when your drive crashes?
