I'm sorry about this, but I just have to vent  A bit annoyed at the moment!

So my iPod Touch just recently died (can't restore it or anything - get unknown error 13) and I decided it was time to get an iPhone. I absolutely loved my Touch and wanted to have both my media player and phone in one, so an iPhone would be perfect for me. So I ordered it and received it a few days later. Everything seemed perfect, but the trouble was just brewing underneath that fine display. When the battery ran out all hell was loose - I charged it overnight (12+ hours!) and the next morning, it still had the battery display saying it needed to be charged. I tried resetting it. Nothing. I tried different dock cables, power adapters and power outlets. Nothing. I tried plugging it into different USB sticks in the computer. Nothing. The computer wouldn't recognize it.

I then tried putting it into DFU mode - and hooray! The computer recognized it and I was able to restore it. I thought. After the restoration I eagerly waited and hoped it would have fixed the charging problem. But no, it hadn't. That darn charging screen reappeared on the iPhone.

Needless to say, I went to the store and got it sent for repair. I had the phone for a total of two days and I couldn't get a new one. Apparently, it's a policy of Apple to have every iPhone sent for repair instead of giving replacements. Jesus Christ. So here I am, waiting for my iPhone to come back - or to get a new one.

Not a great experience, I must say. Not a great start. Hopefully I won't have problem when I get it back.

Once again - sorry for the rant, but I just had to vent :p

Man, that really was unlucky. :( Thank God I have no problems with all my iPhones so far. Better luck with your new one. :)

Bull

Many people here have had phones replaced on the, spot me included. Hell: I'm typing on one now. So this is either bull or you got the idiot apple store. Hontly I'm calling a big bs troll story. This doesn't sound like apple service at.all. Maybe black berry or droid though. :p

This is Denmark - not the US. We don't have Apple Stores, but have to go to our service provider (mobile network) to get our phones exchanged. They told me Apple required all iPhones to get checked and that they couldn't issue me a replacement. Why would I lie? I love Apple and their products and I'm not bashing them in any way - I just had to vent because of this unfortunate experience with a two day old iPhone.

It's the same here. We don't have Apple Stores here so if we have a problem with the iPhone we have to leave it with our provider where it will be checked to see if it warrants a replacement or not.

COuld always be worse

The first day my wife had her phone, it was stolen, best part is it was mostlikely the family of the people she is trying to save she is an ICU nurse. I had to buy a new phone... again.

man that policy over there sucks, If that happened here in the US you would have walked out of the store with a brand new phone, especially since it's only 2 days old.

However, if they had that policy over here in the U.S., then there'd be lot less people returning phones for bezel issues and the like.

I got my new iPhone 3GS 32GB today (yeah, they didn't even repair it, I just got a new one) :) So far everything seems to work. Hopefully I won't have to go through that again :p

It doesn't seem like really a difference in policy. Both in the US and in Denmark phones must be checked out by an Apple employee before approving a replacement. It's just that in Denmark they don't have Apple stores where you can get your phone checked out on-the-spot.

On the other hand, I believe here in the US AT&T would have given you a replacement on the spot and just refurbished the phone themselves, leaving Apple out of the loop entirely.

Actually, AT&T doesn't swap out damaged or DOA iPhones. You still have to send them to Apple.

When my sister got her 3G the sound didnt work unless the headphones were plugged in. She tried to return it to AT&T and they wouldn't take it back.

Sorry for your luck, if it was me, The apple store would have replaced it for me right then and there without being sent into repair
