I'd like to try and help

Hi Lindsay,
I'd like to see if I can help you out here. (I work at yellowbook). Could you please let me know what you searched on, and which mall you were looking for so I can see what I can do about checking the quality of the data?

Thanks Lindsay. Sorry for the frustration.

i searched westfield shopping town in milford, CT and it gave me a number that rang and rang, but when i went to the google site, it got the correct (different) number.

Then i searched east haven animal control and it actually gave me a personal number to the a/c office. It called his cell phone which he said should not have been listed as a public contact number.

has anyone else had issues with this app?

if you're talking about the YPmobile app, then yes, i too have had issues with this.

just today, i tried to call a local ATT store in Lewisville, TX off of road 3040 and it gave me the address/number...but all i got was constant ringing. i reverted back to my searches and selected 2 different ATT store results and again, all i got was constant ringing for each. it was only after my fourth selection did i get an ATT customer service specialist.

i'm not sure if this has anything to do with the app or the information it pulls from or what....but i thought it sounded like your issue, so i posted.

I've had very little luck getting YB to even work. I search for shoes and most of the time I get nothing. In fact just about everything I search for brings up nothing. I try including zip codes in the searched and I still get nothing.

As an example, I just searched for Aurora Mall. A mall that's been in Aurora Colorado since the 70s. All I get is no business found for this search.

It happens on all three of my iPhones.

yea.. i searched for westfield mall and NOTHING came up, i had to actually put in westfield shoppingtown (westfield shopping didnt work either)

The search function just isnt intuitive AT ALL, and the numbers that i have gotten were ALL bogus. I was actually REALLY excited abotu this app. not hhaving to open the browser would have been pretty nice, but oh well.. theres always google!

also, the events calender posts events that already happened!! I got all excited about a concert that had already taken place!

and yea, your issue was EXACTLY the same as mine. I got a BUNCH of numbers, but all just rang and rang!

btw., i HAVE to ask you this (its off topic) but have you ever posted about dog food in a pet forum? cause someone else has your username over there then

for what it's worth, i find that if you try to search for anything (shoes, shopping malls) and use the "locate me-gps" button.....you will almost always get no results.

instead, do your searches and search by your zip code (manually type this in). it seems to work wonderfully for me. the only issue is the wrong numbers....

hmm.l i guess i can try the zip code thing. i usually use the locate me feature because, well - its there and easy. I dont mind typing in zip codes, by WHY have that function if its not going to work AT ALL!

I have to wornder where they get those numbers from though, because yellow book on google has right numbers about 99% of the time, why isnt this particular yellow book pulling the right numbers?

Hello all, it sounds as if you're referring to the YPMobile app. YP is Yellowpages, which is really (AT&T). Yellowbook is a different company. We currently have an iphone-enabled web app (Yellowbook for iPhone), but not a native one. So while I would like to be able to help you, I am afraid that I can't.

For what it's worth, Lindsay I did try and replicate your search on Yellowbook, and we returned the following:
Westfield Shoppingtown Connecticut Post - 1201 Boston Post Rd. Milford, CT 203-878-6837

At any rate, I am sorry I am not the right guy to help. You mentioned that you found the YPMobile application to not be very intuitive. If anyone cares to provide any feedback on what you do and don't like about YPMobile (or any of the other apps in this field), I'd certainly be listening. Sounds like data quality is an issue for one. I'd similarly appreciate feedback on Yellowbook. Because it's a web app, we can't integrate with GPS yet, but there is auto-suggest, which can be helpful too.

Thanks all, sorry I couldn't solve the immediate problem.

is there a plan for yellowbook to put out their own app? I had no idea yp was ATT and not yellowbook, but i guess now it makes sense. Maybe i should write to the developers to the app. it is REALLY bad, and the events are not organized.. i WAS happy with it, but now that i needed it in a real world situation, i'm not soo happy.

Yes Lindsay, that is the intention. I'm afraid I can't give you a timeline for it though, because we have a number of other features we're working on presently. I'm pretty excited to get to it myself though (I'm a developer), so I'm hoping we don't wait too long.
