Took my original iPhone 3G 8Gb back to the Mac Store in Glasgow where the swapped it for a new phone due to dust under the screen.

My replacement phone, which is a refurb has a yellowish tint to the screeen and it is not as clear a picture as my previous phone,

I have done some background reading and this appears to be an issue from a while ago, according to some sites it has been resolved with a version upgrade.

I am now running 3.1 and its still the same, its looks ok, but when compared to other phones it looks warm and yellow.

Is this reason enough to get my iPhone swapped?

Software updates won't fix it. If you can prove the issue (do a side by side comparison with another phone) to a genius then go for it. If not they'll just tell you it's within spec which...it technically is

That's a hardware issue and if you're unhappy with it, then go to the apple store and tell them so.
