Hey all, new to the forums with this account, was a member long ago.

I've been checking the forums on several sites and I am aware that there is another/other threads for yellowsn0w troubleshooting, however nothing has been mentioned about 3 mobile in Aus.

I am currently running 2.2, with 2.28 and have installed via cydia. I have followed numerous instructions to get my current 3 Sim working but with no success. I have given it plenty of time to find the network, and actually left it for 45 mins last time to try find the network - just in case.

Whenever i insert the sim, or turn off airplane mode (after turning it on as per some user instructions) i get an error message saying "Sim Failure", and "Invalid SIM" appears where the carrier name usually is.

Has anyone else come across this? Or been able to successfully get an Aus 3 Mobile SIM to work with yellowsn0w? Any help will be appreciated.

PS: months ago i was advised by 3 that if i wanted to put in my 3 sim i would have to get a different one off them. (they have two different coloured sims - one with a gren 3 symbol, one with blue - and only the blue one works apparently.

I also have the same issue here in Canada. I installed yellowsn0w on my rogers locked iphone and its still doesn't work with a friend's Fido sim card after numerous reboots and a lot of waiting. The dev team mentioned in the blog there are still a lot of issues with the unlock and that this is only the beta version, so we may have to wait it out until the dev team can perfect the unlock for 2.2.

same problems...

hey mate.
I'm in the same situation as you, am with 3 mobile in Perth, and also getting the 'SIM Failure' , etc messages.
Going down to 3 store now to get a new SIM card, will let you know if that works.

Success!

Hey mate,
SUCCESS!! All is working great now.
Went down to the 3 store and told them I had bought the phone in the US, had unlocked it, but wasn't getting any reception.
They didn't ask any questions, and gave me the newest 3 SIM card, a purple one. I inserted it, turned on Airplane Mode for 5 secs, turned it off... and in about 8 seconds... BANG! it worked!

So yeah, i STRONGLY advise you go transfer your SIM card. It's free, and it will only take half an hour (ish) to change everything over.

Best of luck!

Andy

does this mean that if I buy a prepaid iphone 3G, after running the break, any sim cards will work with it? so we need not have to paid for the unlocking fees?

I had the same problem. I took out the sim and put it in a nokia, turned off the pin and some other stuff on there. Also set the language on the sim to english. then put it back in the iphone, restarted and worked fine after that.

Hope this helps.
