Eventually! I got mine working from the 'nearby' tab!

I sure hope this is not the way it works once the real AR functions are out. I'm all for activating things by shaking but if it's implemented in such an unreliable way where you can shake it 100 times and still nothing happens it's just plain stupid.

I assume once the real AR version will be out with iPhone os 3.1 there'll be a button instead of shaking.

I shook it enough that I felt like I might get winded but mine came up. Only problem I have now is while the compass and my location are right it seems to show everything 180 degrees off where it should be...

Shaking the phone Left, Left, Right, Right, Up, Up, Down, Down, Backwards, Backwards, Forwards, Forwards worked for me on the first attempt.

As the previous poster I find that the app is 180 degrees off from where the iPhone camera is facing.

Apparently the Yelp developers used the "shake" method of activation to "hide it" from the Apple Application authorities. According to one story, Apple isn't officially supporting AR until 3.1 comes out.

After a ton of shaking, and it not working, I did a couple of quick shakes and it started right up. So cool! I do think landscape works better than portrait.
