I always wondered when it would happen. I've been a "user" since my Mac Classic and have always been able to confidently say Apple is a great company that it's always cutting edge and always on top of things.

But no longer.

Cases in point...
  1. On my iPad today, I purchased from iTunes an album of classical music with album notes. Being Apple, I thought it should be available once the purchase is finished – that's not too much to ask. I search and search and finally "Google" the problem to discover I need to go on my Mac to put it in iCloud Drive. REALLY?!?!?!? It's a freakin' PDF. Why wouldn't it be stuffed into my iBooks or something. Then, in iTunes all I get is a notice "Your purchases are not available right now. Please come back later" or something to that affect. I have hundreds of purchases since iTunes first came out. C'mon Apple!
  2. Why do I still need a computer to do some iPad things (see above). REALLY!?!?!?!? To (almost) quote my Prime Minister, "It's 2016!"
  3. Pages, Keynote, etc. docs made on my MBP with my Mac fonts get messed up on my iPad. REALLY?!?!?!?!? This is a leftover problem from the Windows-Mac era from a decade ago when fonts wouldn't work and we're talking about the same company here.
  4. Why does Google Drive work better on my MBR and iPad than iCloud Drive?
...and many more little frustrations, mostly with iOS. Damn it - I want my tablet to work like my Mac.

These are clear signs that Apple is so focussed on the big picture they are missing the details – a classic sign of a company becoming too bloated. It happened to Microsoft (but they're turning things around) and it has happened to Adobe, now Apple.

Agreed.

Yeah, it's entirely frustrating to be told about the wonders of two step verification and then not have it work in two brand new phones.

My question to reps (jr. and sr.) about two-step verification and the need to connect to a computer for a full factory restore were answered with:

"Sometimes two-step verification works, sometimes it doesn't." So much for security.

and the second question about needing a computer for a full factory restore left the senior rep fumbling like a fish out of water.

Lately, (iOS 8 on for me) something I use is broken and eventually fixed, but upgrading to the subsequent iOS breaks something else or slows things down.

At this point, it is sadly a given that my iDevices will not run as smoothly as my Mac (although El Capitan is beginning to muck with my system). As disgruntled and offended as I've become with Apple these past few months, if their products worked, I'd buy another iPad because I absolutely adore the pencil. Can't see myself doing that now.

So besides Bloated, WHATS the point! The real point is WE ARE STUCK with Apple... Cause, would you go back to MS Windows... NOT.... I would like to try Google's environment, but I fear it would be No better... So just say

Thank you sir, May I have another!!!!

For my next personal laptop, it will likely either be Windows or Linux. I like the idea of System76, but not sure I like the looks of their systems. The pictures don't portray a great build, but I've heard others say they are great.

For my next work laptop (3-4 years away), I will go back to a Dell, unless Apple does something to keep me on this platform. I'm not really keen on the convergence of iOS and OS X (LaunchPad, etc). The app store seemed like a weird idea at the time, but it grew on me. I find silly annoyances having a Mac in the workplace, like terribly slow SMB performance. Apple has time, in my case.

Sadly, it seems Surface Pros are the way to go. No pissing around with a tablet/phone OS that is not entirely compatible with the computer OS. Let's face it, most of the apps we run are identical on Mac and Windows (Adobe, Microsoft, Google, etc.). I can't believe I'm writing this after being with Apple for so long. Where is the value added we once enjoyed, even boasted about?
