In case you are wondering:

I was iOS4 syncing ical & contacts thru MobileMe & Snow Leopard 10.6.8

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to OS5 and SKIPPED the iCloud setup.

iOS5 will still sync with MobileMe! (until they kill it in 2012)

This way you can stay on SL for awhile to see if 10.6.9 is really coming and will add iCloud to SL.

I just confirmed, making changes to iCal & Contacts on both phone & computer... all changes are syncing thru MobileMe.

Good to know. Did you have any issues with the upgrade? Have you had any system malfunctions on your iPhone since you have upgraded?
Also, does wireless sync work, or do you still have to connect your iPhone to your computer to do those functions?
Thanks for the info.

I upgraded yesterday and had the slow download. then had to retry the upgrade a few times because the verifying servers were so busy, but all my data, music, pictures, apps all restored just fine.

When I first started the phone, it goes thru a one-time setup, when i got to iCloud, i skipped that. (there is a choice to skip)

The phone operation is just as fast, maybe a bit faster/smoother.

I was able to choose to do wireless wifi sync in iTunes, but haven't tried it yet.

Very cool. I have really gone back and forth about upgrading, especially with reading all the issues here. Although I know that the issues are a small percentage vs successful updates. Of course, I hope that Apple does an update to SL to allow full functionality.
Please let us know how the wireless sync goes with your music.

Yes, wireless wifi sync works.
I noticed iTunes was minimized in my dock, so i opened it and my iPhone which was sitting across the room was 'mounted' in iTunes. So I saw there was new updates on a few apps, I downloaded those and then hit sync.. it did it all wirelessly, the iPhone was NOT plugged into power, but it sync'd fine.

Yeah, but what about message?

I kinda figured this would be the case, which you confirmed. But what about imessage? Are you able to use it? I've heard that imessage goes thru icloud. If this is true, does it go the "iTunes part" of the icloud (via iTunes appleid)? Or through the "MobileMe" part of the icloud (via MobileMe appleid), which you haven't activated yet.
