I recently installed a new aftermarket battery in my MBP2015 retina. The battery is holding about 2-3 h depending on use, and I am not happy but content with it.
What drives me insane is the fact that for the first 15-20 min everything seems fine and the battery indicator drops by 2-4% than in the next half hour or so it drops by 20% than from somewhere between 70-and 60 % in "freeefalls" within minutes to around 35%. Between 12-7% the battery warning comes on, however it can take 1/2 h to eventually die suddenly.
IS there a way, to recalibrate the Charge indicator, to give a more accurate and linear reading, or is that how the battery actually behaves??

Sounds like a junk battery. What brand did you get? I used a Ninjabatt in mine. So far, it's been like a new Apple battery and discharges at a reliable rate. Giving me 7+ hours of runtime. I haven't really rated the runtime. It just lasts a really long time and I don't put it on the charger very often.

I'm surprised the Ninjabatt is having issues. I was indicating mine doesn't behave that way. It's just a smooth discharge like you'd expect.

The only way I know of to recalibrate a lithium battery. Is run the device until it's fully discharged and turns off. Wait a couple hours. Then do a full, uninterrupted charge. Until the charge indicator shows full (ie Green).

That should work to get the battery and the charging system "calibrated" so the indicator should report more accurately what the battery is supplying.

Ok Thats helpful thanks to both of you. I did the complete discharge and than charged it full. However I did not wait at all and used it while charging.
OK will let it go now till "death" and than wait till the morning to start the charge while at work

I am sadly in a country that is not "serviced" by amazon.......yet. So I got the bat brought by someone who visited the states. Otherwise I would send it back

Means there's a defective cell in the pack. Calibration more accurately defines the high and low voltage points, which helps avoid sudden shutdown. But there is no way to map out the defective cell(s) in the battery itself as the fuel gauge chip in the pack is primitive.
