Hey guys. Im really sorry for posting this because I know theres a bunch, but Im not well versed in the Mac ways and can use all the help I can get.

Im torn between two Macs. Both are the base models of the 13'' MBP and the base 11'' MBA with upgraded RAM. Mostly what I will be using this for is browsing, core-stuff, screwing around in garageband, light-gaming, pounding out essays, and somephoto-editing, but noting like WAY too strenuous. I plan on getting Aperture and use that for a bit, and down the road (probably a year or so, maybe less) get Photoshop CS5 when I have enough money to get it.

I know that the current 11'' is pretty horrid when it comes to editing, but you guys are the consumer experts. Would the new processors that are coming out make that much of a difference you think? I really like the Air, but if down the road I cant edit photos all too well then it wont be a good purchase. If you need me to be clearer on anything just say so but if you could please help me that'd be great. Thanks!

Both the 11" air and 13" pro will handle light editing easily, especially once the airs are updated. I'm assuming that you'll be hooking them up to an external monitor most of the time, otherwise, definitely go for the pro, cause it has a (slightly) higher resolution and the bigger screen will make editing a lot easier.

So long as they're iX series CPU's, you'll be fine. Naturally, very large projects will make them chug. The one piece of work I did that made the i5 MBP chug was converting Homer's Iliad to print over 36 pages as if it were on one page and working with the text was kind of hellish.

BUT, that was a 36 art board Illustrator project.

The base 13" MBA will be the best for you. The 1440x900 screen resolution will probably be the most beneficial thing for you.

+1. We looked at the 11 inch as a travel laptop and found the screen lacking. got two 13 inch loaded airs running cs5, they do fine.
