Orange box is on my list for christmas. I have had my macbook pro 2.4 for a month or so now and its great. I have yet to dual boot it with windows using leopard/tiger bootcamp, or give Crossover a go. I tried the original half life with the crossover trial and it was awfully buggy. If crossover fails in the tf2/episode2 department, then i will attempt to get windows up and running.

The main reason I am posting, is because I was wondering about getting steam up and running in xp through bootcamp. How would I go about getting an internet connection set up in xp to play tf2 online? Is it the same as setting up wireless on a normal pc? What is your internet setup when playing through steam in bootcamp?

Noobish as ever, but i would be interested to know. Thanks for reading.

Never try stuff like that on Crossover. But on Bootcamp it will fly.

And Bootcamp is just a needlessly fancy word for "installing and running Windows on a Mac". Nothing is emulated, nothing is taken away. It's just a PC in a very beautiful case.

On my Macbook, the entire Half-Life line of games (HL2, Counterstrike, Portal, etc.) runs beautifully via Crossover, with the exception of the fact that Steam itself takes quite a while to initially.

Crossover has such incredible potential, albeit mostly unrealized. Most of the time it doesn't work at all, but when it does it works beautifully. Most of the Steam games in my collection run just as well via Crossover as they do via Bootcamp, and some even run better, such as in the case of Counterstrike: Source, which at med-low settings gets at unplayable 5-10fps on Bootcamp but a respectable 20-30fps on Crossover.

Yeah, lots of people got it to work on MacBook. The wonder is due to lack of windows!! No windows = no overhead for inefficient and fairly useless windows OS, so slower computers can run things faster than they could... (And OSX is much more efficient than Windows).
