I currently have a PB 15 inch 1.5 G4 w/ 1 gig of RAM but I rarely use this machine since I have a Powermac Dual 2.5 GS with 3 gig of RAM. I do all my intense video and photo work on the Powermac for obvious reasons.

I have been wanting a smaller notebook for awhile now and I realy like the look of the new Macbook. Should I sell my PB?? Do you think I could get $1400 for it??

I want to use the Macbook for Aperture (eventually Photoshop when CS3 comes around), web, email, and all the iLife products. It will also come in handy as a few of my upcoming classes will need Win XP and Visual Studio.

I plan on putting in the 2 gig of RAM and going with the Black Macbook model.

Any cons of selling and going with the Macbook?? Please help mw with my desicion. I have a black macbook on hold at the apple store until 3pm tomorrow.

Thanks

Sounds like a MacBook would work nicely for you. Personally, I would go with the white 2GHz MacBook and save the cash. :)

BTW, $1,400 seems a bit much for your laptop- but you might be able to get that much for it on eBay. :)

Not really worried about sabing $$ $150 for the hard drive upgrade and the black finish isnt really a big deal. I had to pay $450 extra for the color of my car so I might as well pay extra for the color of a laptop.

But can nayone give me any drawbacks of going with this Macbook?? I do ZERo gaming.....the macbook would be mostly for light PS (especially light until CS3) a little aperture, and some iLife stuff. If you can see a drawback in me getting the macbook PLEASE let me know. Also let me know if you are interested in the powerbook mentioned in the first post of this thread :)

Any other opinions???? If so please respond I only have 6 hours to make up my mind!!!

TIA

If you are doing no gaming, it is perfect for you. Be happy. I reckn you would get $1200 or so for the powerbook.

IMO i think you want the new MB only coz it`s now available in BLACK:cool: . Or may be you really want a Winblows Machine:eek: since your PowerMac is more than enough for everything else.

Getting 1400$ for your Pb seems a bit too much. Since you can get a MB for 1200$ which is actually more powerful and attractive than your PB. But if you really want to sell it, then this is your last chance. try and ebey it today only. Once all the iBook /PB users who were waiting for MB start selling their old ones, your PB will fetch an even lower value.

Dont worry bout that at all. you`ll find a lot more very soon. They`ll be easily available after first 2 weeks IMO.

But you really have to worry bout that PB sale. Sell it ASAP if you really want to sell it. Dont wait at all.

I dont want it only becuase its in BLACK...first and formost I want the Core Duo which will make my iLife activities much faster. I also could use the dual boot capabilities....i have a few classes that require software tha tonly runs on PC (MS project, visual studio, etc).

and the slightly smaller size will be great!

My PM is fine for most of the tasks I do day to day, but the increase in speed will help with iMovie and iDVD which I will doing alot of once my daughter is born.
