So quite a while ago, like during the fall I made some post about my CD drive not sucking in CD's. As it turns out, the case around the drive has been slowly warping until now it is next to impossible to get cd's in. However, I was willing to just wait until my next break from school, in March, to deal with this. Unfortunately today I noticed that the case on my macbook is also warping on the other side! I included pictures of the two places...

I can't afford to send in my computer and lose it for 1-2 weeks until March, but until then does anyone have any idea why this might be happening??

I don't abuse it, it spends the vast majority of it's time either on my desk or my lap, and if I do carry it around with my, it's in a case.

If you're still covered under warranty, the turn around time is only about 3-4 business days. You shouldn't be without it for more than a week. Call Apple up and they'll overnight you a box to ship it. Unless you want to walk into an Apple store, they may give you a replacement instead...I'm assuming you have the Core Duo processor?

Is it me, or does that thing look like it's been to Iraq and back. Scuffs galore usually indicate physical abuse and that puppy looks beat up!

Black mackbooks smudge pretty good. Not sure how you could get it to warp if you tried though... there may be a genie inside trying to get out.

I swear it doesn't look like that in real life... I think most of that stuff is just the flash reflecting off of dust on the case.

Is this a problem with the C2D also? Just curious. I am waiting (as patiently as I can) for mine to arrive. I would hate to have one with wont even last 2 years. My iBook G3 900 mhz is a few years old and still looks and runs great.

Ya, I was gonna say that..looks like dust to me. Anyhow, I'd be really worried about the magsafe with that warpage there. You know those things have caught on fire before, or atleast melted the adapters. Looks like it's getting way too warm. As for the cd slot, that's plain odd, but obviously the plastic was a poor chemistry on your macbook. If they don't take it back and fix it.. I'm sure you can "black"mail them with some bad reviews on you tube and engadget.

whoa damn thats crazy... i wouldnt wait any longer for above mention of magsafe issues and then your cd issues etc. blackbooks do show smudges etc but i agree i think its just the flash reflecting.. that would have to have been a battle tested macbook otherwise haha

My 17" MBP screen is slowly warping, yikes!!! I think it's because the screen is just too large for the latches in the center.

I'm sure it's covered under warranty: I'll check it in soon.
