I have a MacBookPro "15; late 2011, and have problems with the final release of Yosemite 10.10.3.
Also to allready be clear, my motherboard has been replaced under the Apple Repair Program.

I have the following problems i can't get resolved:

1. Sometimes starting up is stuck on just a grey screen (no Apple logo)

2. Sometimes logging in just gives a black screen with a moveabble mouse pointer, Option+Control+Esc gives a window, but no running tasks to stop.

3. Screensaver not kicking in

4. Going from Sleep mode (opening the lid), just gives the black screen with pointer (see 2nd issue)

5. Restarting or closing down (chosen in Apple menu) , gives just again the black screen etc.

Anybody has a possible solution?

Also done that.
Have also tried to install the 10.10.3 combo update, not going good because it can not restart good.

Have you tried booting into safe mode (hold shift key while booting) to see what issues still exist in safe mode.

More work, but it may isolate where the issue is......

1..I would do a complete Clean Install, not from back up download over the existing OS. Do not use Time Machine nor another back up method. I use DiskMaker X if you know how. Really simple

2. After the clean install, I would use the system (Boot up/Shut down) a little to see if all is well without any programs added.

3. Make sure your programs or apps are up to date, and install one at a time to see if that is the issue.

I would also add that maybe creating a new partition, installing 10.10.3 to the new partition, booting to the new partition and not install anything new. Play around with the system and see if the issues still happens. If they don't then there is something else causing the issues other then Yosemite that has been installed. When done, reboot back to the primary install and delete the new partition.
