Yosemite a huge disappointment

A retrograde step by Apple, I'm afraid. Mavericks was pretty slick but Yosemite brings no real improvements in everyday use and start-up and shut-down are marginally but noticeably slower now on my 2013 Air 13" model.

Also, their idea of progress has condemned my iPhone 4S to a measure of redundancy as iCloud Drive requires all elements of the system to run the latest software. They'd like me to dash out and buy the latest iPhone 6.......I think not!

One step forward and two steps back.

In your opinion but if you don't like it, then don't use it. Just load Mavericks back onto the computer.

Perhaps not for you. But for me, it does. I really like the Continuity feature with SMS relay and using the telephone from my Mac. That alone is a huge convenience to me and improves my everyday life.

What is the issue with your 4S? Unlike the 4 it has BT4 so supports all the handoff features....

I hate comments that suggest such pointless remarks. The OP is expressing an opinion which is a valid response to the new updated GUI and performance issues.

I think the point he is trying to make is that Apple could include older hardware in most of the new software developments. Apple choose to not allow certain hardware to gain from the latest software advancements. This is a choice in most cases and not a limitation imposed from the old hardware.

I think the point is valid. Its a repeat restriction that Apple have imposed. Siri is another example that immediately springs to mind.

I buy Apple because the hardware is good and will outlast most of its competitors. Apples choice of hardware for the iPhone and Laptops are a better quality of material and build. But we also pay more for this privilege. So the question has to be asked. Why do apple want to punish the people who have supported them over the past years by restricting their older hardware from the latest software advancements?

This sends a clear message to me that Apple do not respect their end user, and are more focussed on how they can make a extra $ from you over providing you a rewarding user experience.

If you don't agree with this then you deserve to be treated with little regard by the company that is taking advantage of you.

maflynn is quite right, the OP had a choice whether to upgrade and now has a choice whether to stay or downgrade. That isn't a pointless remark at all. Of course if the user upgrades without having backups etc etc...but product manufacturers give us choices, nothing more. OP says Yosemite brings him no benefits that he can see...so downgrade, its that easy. All of us have different compromises of features we value in any product - but if I saw none I wouldn't stay with that product.

Could it be possible that the OP had a change in opinion (maybe!) after using Yosemite for a longer time?

Your missing the point. No one is saying he cannot downgrade. The OP has not claimed he cannot downgrade. Its not about downgrading. Its about the OP expressing his disappointment on a new OS that in his belief has not been a strong step forward. Thats one of the valid reasons people use forums. To express the good and bad experiences.

Its obvious has the OP's has a choice to downgrade if he wants. Pointing this out to him does not provide a valid critique or advance the thread. Share your thoughts that you disagree with the OP, but don't just state an obvious lame mindless opinion.

Think of it like this. If you went to the movie theatre to watch the latest block buster movie that has been advertised everywhere. Unfortunately you didn't enjoy the film. You decide to post your thoughts of dislike on a movie forum. If someone responded by informing you that you don't have to go to the cinema it would not be a valid response.
