Yosemite and outlook.com account

Does built in mail app allow to connect to outlook.com (hotmail.com) account? This is the biggest annoyance for me with 10.9 as I am unable to successfully connect to any of the outlook.com services with built in apps.

It is crazy that apple allows for all other kind of accounts (linkedin, yahoo, google) but the good old hotmail/outlook is not an option; however, iOS supports them just fine.

Its probably a bug in the beta. File a bug report so Apple is aware of this.

I'd not jump to conclusions that apple is dropping support for outlook.com, since the OS has not been released yet.

I guess i should have been more clear

My question was if the build in mail app supports outlook.com accounts? 10.9 does not support it

I do not have 10.10 beta to test, so i was wondering if someone else could test it out for me

I have my girlfriend's hotmail account set up on 10.9 without any problems. I only use it for mail though, not for syncing contacts/calendars or any of that. It still works in 10.10 too, it just gives me a "can't send secure connection" error from time to time.

Just set it up as a regular email account, not exchange. (Microsoft only allows free Exchange for mobile devices, that's why it works on iOS)

If you use 2-step authentication, you should create an app password and use that instead of your regular password.

By regular email account, do you mean, pop3 or imap? Do contacts, calendar and tasks also transfer and work the same way or this method is only good for email only?

By regular account I mean you open Internet Accounts in System Preferences, choose "Add Other Account", "Email account" and type your info. It should autodetect the settings when you enter an @outlook.com address.

I checked Mail.app's settings and it's using IMAP. It only email and notes.

For exchange (which would allow you sync contacts, calendar, etc. and receive instant notifications on your Mac) you need an Office 365 subscription.

Don't take my word for it, though. I've never tried it.
