Yosemite Beta - iBooks can now edit metadata.

Hello, wondered if anyone had played with iBooks on Yosemite and had same issues as I.

So, backed up ibooks directory in Mavericks. Put it into place on Yosemite, started up iBooks - and nothing.

This always works on Mavericks, so I think they changed a code or maybe even that iBooks is an updated version - the reason I say this, and it's good news, is that on Mavericks you can't edit any metadata, but, on Yosemite, under list view, you can edit and change the category, author and collection sections.

You can't batch edit sadly, but you can indeed edit them one by one or by using tab.

It's good news for those using iBooks to sync non iTunes pubs I think!

This is important for me as I convert my own notes to an ebook and use them on my iPad.

iBooks is a nice little app for when you do want to read something on your nice laptop or huge iMac screen - glad they sorted thing small thing out finally - I say small as in a small thing to fix: it's not like they had to rewrite a whole program I'm sure. I was also using the hack to get them back into iTunes just so I could edit things - calibre is a nice tool for some editing purposes but it doesn't always get the tags right for iTunes I'v noticed.

You might notice some small glitches with iBooks - I suggest if you have a library of hundreds to add 80 or so at a time. One time it was fine with my 900 in one go, another time it didn't enjoy the experience so much!!

Hope they might also add a proper books location in the future or a built in backup option rather than having to get into the library folder manually or the other way where you just drag all out of ibooks into a folder. Simple and easy solutions is all thats needed lol.

Yes. But they omitted the Year/Date and comment fields, among others. And there's no Get Info window for titles. Just the list view with an incomplete set of fields for pop-editing.

It's an improvement, yes. But it's still inexplicably crippled.

Can't believe Get Info's not in the final, what the heck Apple?

It seems impossible to even enter something into an empty field, now what...
Let alone it doesn't offer all the metadata edits I need.
