Ok so first of all I'm quite new to mac so have been really silly jumping the gun and installing a beta, it installed fine but it then restarted and got stuck, is there a way of getting out of this screen?

You can try holding down Command, Option, P and R immediately at the boot chime - hold them down until the chime sounds a second time. This resets the computer's NVRAM and could unstick it.

If that doesn't work try holding down Shift at the boot chime, this should start the computer in Safe Mode, which should at least show you where it's crashing if it gets stuck.

Good luck!

Got it working!

Soo after 2 days of trying I've finally got Yosemite unstuck and working, here's what I did...

Boot in safe mode, which got me to a login screen, I then clicked on my user but that crashed too, I left it try to load for around 20mins but nothing so I forced shutdown holding. Down power button, left it 5mins and turned it back on and to my amazement it booted up fine!
