Hi guys!
I'm trying to set up an old Mini-PC to be my tucked-away printer server, but I'm running into problems. My Mac is running Yosemite, and the PC is running Win7 Pro.
This is the situation:
- I have shared a printer and a hard drive on the PC
- I can see and access the PC's shares on the PC itself, in Explorer -> Network
- I can't see the PC in Finder under Network
- I can open a Screen Share to my PC from my Mac using Connect To Server -> vnc://acer.lan
- I can successfully ping the Windows machine using both its name acer.lan and its IP
- I can see my Mac in Explorer, but I can't access/open it
- There is no Home Group defined on the PC
- Both machines are in the same workgroup
I'm relatively new to Mac, so there might be an obvious solution to this that I'm not aware of. This should in any case be basic functionality, so there must be a way.
Any help appreciated!
Cheers,
Kim
