For some reason, OS X Yosemite is crashing, particularly photoshop and now Chrome.

It's very frustrating when I lose what I'm working on - obviously.

Has anyone experienced this, and or know how to fix it?

I'm running OS X Yosemite, Clean install, on a 2014 Macbook Pro Retina, 15", 8 GB Ram, 512GB SSD.

If it matters I'm also using a Thunderbolt Display.

Any idea what may be going on?

Edit: It seems as if the issue is when I access Finder via a browser or photoshop.

I also experienced this.
Using safari with heavy website, it freeze and have to do hard reset.

It tells me there is a problem with the graphic card. Never encounters this with maverick.

Sometimes it runs 93-100Celcius. It's just weird.

Other than that, I also use ext. display, photoshop. No problem at all.

I'm having the same or similar issue.

OS X 10.10.X freezes up on me roughly once per 48 hours, which requires a hard reboot.

Best I can recall, Chrome is always running in the background or the active window. Just today, my Macbook Pro froze when saving a browser screenshot.

The other day, my computer froze when using preview.app with Chrome running in the background.

Prior to that, I had Chrome, Photoshop CS6 and Preview.app running.

I never had this issue prior to OS X 10.10.X. I've tried resetting SMC, PRAM, clearing all system caches and doing a disk repair (which didn't find any issues).

Reviewing Console logs during the freeze time doesn't show any consistency. There are either no errors around the time of the freeze or there are faults sometimes, but not others.

The last two freezes happened roughly the same time of day but I can't find what might be running in the background that would cause the issue. Logs show IPv6 lookups happening, but my logs are filled with such events so it doesn't seem to be a likely cause.

The only thing I can think of is to do a complete reinstall, but I'm hoping to avoid that.

Has anyone else had these issues or have any ideas what else to look for?

Maybe Its a combination of Chrome and another program or even the problematic Graphic card. I'm using Safari and have no such issues, but not using nvidias graphic card. Try Safari with a clean install, no back up yet and see if you notice any issues

For me, it's not Chrome, it's Safari. It seems to happen a lot on Yahoo sites, particularly Yahoo Mail and the home page. But I had it crash tonight on a site that I rarely go to. I can't really figure out what the common denominator is.

Where are the friggin crash logs in Yosemite? I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Wow - seems to be like a common issue. Super Frustrating.

Seems to be the most problematic when Photoshop CS5 and Chrome are open.

Safari really sucks - I work 90% of the time on my MBP, and Chrome (when it doesn't crash) is much faster and is sometimes required depending on what I'm working on.

Edit: Wow, just happened again within 5 minutes of typing this. Here's the crash log if it helps anyone.

That crash is related to DropBox. Maybe see whether there is an update to the DropBox software, or uninstall DropBox to see whether that fixes your problem.

Thank you for letting me know. Looking for a Dropbox update right now. At the very least I'll re-install dropbox.

I found out the fix is in Yosemite 10.10.1, but my Mac doesn't recognize there is an update available - I'm stuck on 10.10.

Does anyone know how to get my Mac updated?

So frustrated with my Mac lately...
