I have a really slow connection where I live and 3 Macs. Is there a way to download Yosemite once and then distribute it to all the machines locally?

Of course, just copy the installer app to the other mac and install there.
Create a bootable USB drive from the Yosemite image.. Go to http://liondiskmaker.com/ and grab the latest beta which support Yosemite to create a USB. Use the USB to upgrade/image all Macs until Apple creates a new OS!
Ah, after I downloaded Yosemite from the Mac App Store I checked in my Applications and there was an installer there. I just threw a copy in my public folder and downloaded it to the other machines! Worked great.
