I was wondering, I hear a lot of people talking about smooth animations in the new beta's. But that is not my experience. How smooth should it be? I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch Retina 2014.

Just my $.02: I was experiencing animation lag (Mission Control, Safari) on my nMac Pro 8-Core with D700 dual FirePro graphics on 2x 27" Apple LED LCD's. I worked through Console for error logs and narrowed it down to a few third party apps:

- TotalSpaces2 for Yosemite
- BetterTouchTool
- Ember

If you have any of those running, try quitting them. If not, sorry I couldn't help.

None of that programs running.

Its even laggy with translucency disabled. It didn't lag in DP7 with translucency disabled.

Annoying, just hope apple wil fix this. Its unacceptable for a 1550 euro brand new macbook.

It's a beta. Don't like it? Uninstall it.

If it does the same on Mavericks, then complain.

I found out what causes the lag. It was safari. When i exit safari and open a lot of apps like photoshop, final cut, lightroom indesign, mail it doesn't lag at all. But when safari is open it will lag.

Since updating to Yosemite scrolling in Preview.app becomes very choppy both in window and fullscreen mode. FPS while scrolling is extremely low. Anyone has the same issue? Wonder if this is an Yosemite bug or it's just my Mac

Preview scrolling in fullscreen is not buttery smooth but not "choppy" either. I'd say 15 fps. Definitely noticeable, but not jarringly bad.

I have no lag

On my Retina 2013 13" i5/8GB no lag. Everything smooth. Lots of apps open: VMware Fusion, Dreamweaver, Word, Pages, Excel (super big file +10k rows of data x 10 tabs), Safari (+5 tabs), Mail, calendar, reminders, Evernote, Skitch, Sketchup, QGIS (with xref from map servers), Preview (a couple pdf-s).

System is not choppy or slow.

I got ui/animation lag on my rMBP 15" 2013 as well. Is it bad to just force use the discrete graphics card all the time? At least until Apple hopefully releases a fix? Seems to work better using the 650M.
