yosemite has disappeared from the App store

Hi folks,

So I was ready to make a USB bootable drive before upgrading to El Capitan tonight, now searching the App store it doesn't exist anymore.

searching Yoseite only shows El Capitan and nothing else in the app store...

This is a used computer and I never downloaded yosemite before on my other machines, so nothing shows under purchased either.

Could this be an isolated issue with my computer? Where can I find a clean copy online now.

My apple knowledge is still very limited with maybe a 2-10 so I don't fully understand everything coming from Windows yet.

If you have not previously downloaded Yosemite it will not be available via Mac App Store.

Simply put, you can't find a legal copy on line. Unless you previously downloaded Yosemite, it will no longer be available to you from the Mac App Store. If you're on a used computer, my advice is to create your own Apple ID and password and proceed from there with a clean install. Anything downloaded to that machine if it still has the previous owner's Apple ID associated with it is only going to cause a problem for you.

Can I use the file already installed on the computer for making my bootable USB, I bought the computer already setup.

If I had a direct link to the app store would everything work? I mean not get told can't be found.

I found a few on torrent sites already, now some say 4.82GB for 10.10 & 5.31GB for 10.10.4.

I'm planning on installing a new SSD so having a fresh install is the plan, just don't want to install El capitain yet.

It's a far better idea to install El Capitan than to trust an installer downloaded via torrent from an unknown source.

What? Have your plans changed? It is hard to provide help when your story keeps changing.
Bottom line, there is NO way to download an official Apple Yosemite installer. It is too late. Apple removed it from the App Store. The complete Yosemite installer from Apple is done.

People might be able to offer some workarounds that does not involve downloading the Yosemite installer from the Apple App Store, but we would need to know what you are really trying to do.

I got the help I needed from a forum member seems even trying to restore my Yosemite I needed the software. After doing my login for the app store I get program can't be found and had already deleted my HD for the clean install.

Damn I'm lucky I had the bootable key and the program.

I'm still not clear what OP is trying to do, but yes, if you have a Time Machine backup made with Yosemite to a locally attached drive (like USB), you can option key boot to that drive and erase the internal disk then restore the entire OS and all data right back onto the internal drive. There is no need to install the OS to do this.

I don't have that, after pressing Command>R and deleting the HD from Utilities I tried to install Yosemite OSX but after doing the app login was told file can't be found.

I was able to install my bootable OSX stick, I'm glad I have some computer sense from windows as someone else would be lost.
