Looking at SMC fan control in Yosemite DP4 on the default setting the fans on my late 2013 13 Inch Retina pro idle at about 1300rpm, whereas on mavericks it's about 2000rpm.

Is anyone else noticing this difference? I'm wondering if the default for my macbook should be 1300 or 2000?

My cMBP, a mid-2012 15", is running about 2,000rpms at idle, both in 10.9 and 10.10.

I had some issues with smcFanControl even on Mavericks, which showed 2000 rpm as default value for my 13" 2014 MBA (the real default for my device is 1200). After then, I switched to Macs Fan Control, which is IMO way better than smcFC. That app is still updated by developer so it supports the latest devices which SMCfancontrol may not support due to no updates released since august 2012.
Macs Fan Control works flawlessly even on the latest Yosemite public beta. I had issues with UserEventAgent using 100% CPU so it successfully prevented my MBA from overheating :)

I am on a 2009 Mac Pro and the machine is running VERY hot ever since I installed Yosemite. I have no idea about the default idle speeds, but something is borked in 10.10. They seem to run way to low.

Anyone know where I can find the supposed default fan speeds for the 2009 Mac Pro?
