I am just so frustrated with Mail on 10.10...such a simple app that gets worse with every update...whats going on? Was hoping the second beta will improve things a bit but that is not the case unfortunately...

On a more productive side, does anyone have any tips for making it freeze/flicker less? Get it to be more stable somehow? Any tips are appreciated.

Yeah, Mail is terrible.

Mine takes 5 minutes to get emails that my iPhone gets immediately after the message is sent to me.

My iPhone bings and 5 minutes later Mac Mail gets it.

Same here...one of the many problems I have with it...I can't believe they broke meeting invitations in Mail even...these things are so basic. Ugh...

That's a business feature so it was removed because Apple want to appeal to the hipsters.

This is ridiculous, THATS WHY ITS CALLED A BETA! (or DEVELOPER PREVIEW). You even agreed when downloading it that it is unstable and should be used on another mac.

Yeah, but the new Mail has mark-ups. You can draw arrows pointing to things, scribble mustaches on family photos, and more. The possibilities are endless. This outweighs any buggy code or the fact that it's an extremely basic mail app that almost any 3rd party client trumps. :p

While I agree with your premise, the OP definitely has a point. Mail in OS X has. Even pretty terrible since Mavericks, and possibly even mountain lion. Apple customers shouldn't have to tinker all day just to get their mail client to work.

So-yes were in beta, and hopefully Mail will be in working condition before launch, but I'm not hopeful.

Apple Mail app has been buggy since I first started using it, which was back to the days of Panther.

I just gave up a few years ago and started using a Gmail tab in the browser. Now, I don't think I'd ever go back to a dedicated mail client. What is the need for it? Save yourself some headaches by using Safari.

Unfortunately that does not work when you need to use exchange...the reason why I am frustrated is not because it does not work well right now, since indeed it's still in beta, but because i know that it will never get any better...like you mentioned, Mail on Mac has always been crappy and I dont think things will be different with the GM of 10.10. I just really dont want to use Outlook, it sucks 10 times more, but I am left with no choice.

Changed over to airmail. It works with exchange and is pretty damn solid. They update it often.

I have always wondered why apple does not make a solid mail program.

You are the third person recommending airmail to me today...I guess I am going to just try it out :)

Been using airmail for 6 months or so... Just switched over to mailbox on OS X... This thing is rock solid... And it's a BETA! I was seeing plenty of little bugs in airmail that would annoy me...I'm sure I'll still use airmail from time to time...

OS X 10.10 Mail on DP6 has never been better even in Mavericks when it wasn't beta, yeah it may close once a twice a day but its solid for me other than that, they even fixed / brought back calendar invites into Mail on DP6

I would never go back to Outlook, had to put up with it till 10.9

You must not have to use an Exchange based calendar - if you did you would not think so...

My mail and calendar are on Exchange 2010, the only issue I have is a lack of a feature like iOS where if I forward a meeting request they receive a .ics file which will insert itself into a calendar in their Outlook which is different to their primary one, other than that all good.....this issue has always been there and not a 10.10 issue.

Airmail is solid. I just wish the conversation threads would actually expand - maybe they do, but I can't seem to figure out how.

----------

Mailbox Beta running so smooth and awesome on my mac... You should give it a try.

if only they would add support for Exchange.

I use gmail and my schools email that they gave me (uses Exchange). Worked without a hitch (although it took a few tries to get it to connect to exchange because it couldn't find the server) Seems like Mail is just buggy for some, it should be resolved by release since they did add new features to the program.

I wiped my Yosemite PB install this morning and did another fresh one and made a whole new profile too. This time Mail is working like it should and the problems I was having before have stopped.

I just wish Apple would make its search option more robust in Mail. Searching for a keyword within a conversation thread is non-existant. It's great it will find the thread with the keyword, but it doesn't narrow it down to the individual email(s) and I have to scroll through mail messages scanning for it.

Some corruption?

I think some of these issues are due to corrupted data.

I have been using mail for years and it has always worked fine.
No problems with iCloud / Gmail using apple mail.

I get emails almost instantly like phone.

My Mail Window keeps resizing itself whenever i close (cmd+w) and reopen it, pixel by pixel. See the attached window (effect is best visible by fast.forward-scrubbing). also check beginning and end to see what i mean :)
