Since I installed Yosemite, I no longer have the effect of image rentention on my iMac 27, is a case or is improved something and you notice it too?

My iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) has been showing signs of image retention. To think I already got this machine as replacement for my previous iMac, which had been suffering from the same problem. It seems as if the problem has become less, or at least less apparent, after upgrading to OS X Yosemite compared to OS X Mavericks. Maybe because the interface elements are lighter? (Wild guess on my part).

Yes, I agree that it is due to a graphics lighter, transparent.

Happy to have a confirmation by others, thank you!

I notice no difference at all with my 27" late 2013 iMac. There's always image retention if I leave anything on the screen for more than 30 minutes, but it'll go away 5 minutes later. It's just something I've learned to live with.

Does this retention any last for a short time if the image has been static for a few minutes or is it something more permanent from weeks of having the same things on screen in the same place?

In my case there's no telling when retention sinks in. It can be because I have Pages open for a few hours in more or less then same place, but I've also had it happen with Finder windows after only a few minutes.

In most cases the retention is gone within a few hours, letting the screen saver run for twenty minutes or shutting down the machine / turning off the screen and letting it rest.

That said darker diagonal stripes are appearing in the lower left corner again. If my 2012 iMac was anything to go by those are permanent. I'll be contacting Apple for a screen replacement sooner rather than later again.
