So I installed the beta and opened up Numbers.

Made changes to an expense tracking spreadsheet. Saved it.
Its not syncing back to my iOS devices or to the iCloud website.

I specifically said no to the iCloud Drive setup because it warned about losing the ability to access files with older iOS devices. I don't understand why this would be broken.

If i close the document, and reopen it from the cloud in the app, it loads the correct updated version.

If I go into the iCloud preferences it shows iCloud Drive as enabled and Numbers is checked, even though I specifically did not do the iCloud Drive setup wizard.

Has anyone else seen this?

do you have the iOS8 beta on your iDevices? Yosemite cannot sync back to iOS7 devices and vice versa. its basically two different iClouds.

changes you make on Yosemite would only sync with iOS8 devices and changes you make on iOS7 devices dont synch back to Yosemite or iOS8 devices

Would have been nice if they made the warning more clear then... I read it before I even installed and thought it said your documents would be unavailable on your devices if you enabled iCloud Drive, not if you so much as logged in from OS X.

That kind of pisses me off... thats not even really a beta issue since that should impact anyone who decides not to upgrade iOS right away. Maybe it was clear to others, but that wording should have put more emphasis on the all around sync breaking even without iCloud Drive.

You mean clearer than this?

Hmm.. I only read the MacRumors summary and the page on enabling iCloud Disk which clearly had the warning, but I read it like you'd only lose compatibility if you enabled iCloud Disk... didn't read that document you pointed to
