if you have no issues running mavericks, then you most likely won't have any issues running yosemite. probably gonna want to do a clean install though.

FYI...I just used the standard install on my 2008 iMac and all went well. No issues with the install and everything is working as it should. Nice:D

Is it a good idea to try and run Yosemite on my older iMac? I have had no issues running Mavericks.

I did a clean install of yosemite on my macbook pro mid 2010.

It was nothing but laggy and just didn't work as expected... Boot time was terrible as well...

Luckely, still had maverick install dmg on a usb stick, reverted, and macbook works perfectly again..

I have Yosemite installed on my Macbook Pro mid 2009 with the Intel Core 2 Duo 2,53ghz, 8GB and regular HD.

It's pretty smooth, but I suggest to have at least 8GB and change the HD with an SSD. Then it would be running even smoother.

I run Yosemite on a 2008 2.8 iMac with an ssd and 6gb of ram. I can't express how much better it runs than Mavericks. Smoother, quicker, both were fresh installs.

I'd go with an ssd any day versus a hybrid or Fusion. 500 gb Crucials are around $200 these days.

Agreed... have two mid 2009 MBP's one with 8G / 1TB SSD and the other with 8G / 750 HD and the speed is quite noticeable... It still runs OK on the HD MBP... But as per previous posts, the graphics are stuttery and laggy on both. But I believe thats a software issue and not hardware.
