Yosemite on iMac 2011

Thanks. I installed it on my iMac 27'' 2011, surprisingly faster than ever.
Boot time is noticeably faster.
turned out to be a very bad upgrade for me (mid 2011). So far all animations went from smooth to chungy, overall performance is very sluggish, e.g. it takes mission control about 1-2 seconds to even come up, after that the animation where the windows are moving in their corners runs with like 2fps.
I already tried repairing permissions, resetting stuff like SMC and enabling "reduce transparency". No siginificant improvement. Even copying files seems to have slowed down, let alone resource hungry applications...
e: also there are some graphical glitches, although im not sure if this is always the case when viewing on non-retina, b/c the blurry outline isnt there on my retina mbp:

I too seems to be experiencing some laggy GUI performance. Especially in MS Office applications. Rather frustrating!
Perfectly fine for me. Except SMB (Windows shares) which has been an absolute nightmare for a while now.
EDIT: I take that back, my iMac no longer sees my FaceTime camera. :/

Yosemite made me do it... join these forums, that is.
I'm very disappointed in Yosemite on my 2011 iMac. I have 32GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD...I shouldn't have any difficulties and for the most part I didn't. However, over the weekend I reverted to my last known good install of Mavericks because every time I tried to play WoW, the graphics were so choppy and stuttering so bad that I found it to be unplayable. The game (patched to 6.0.2) runs smoothly on Mavericks, but it stutters and it's choppy on Yosemite for me. It almost resembles network lag. The funny thing is that I would be walking around in-game and supposedly I would have 80+ fps but It seemed like I was more around 15 fps.
Although I've read from many others that they have had no issue with WoW on Yosemite, I have seen a few that mentioned the same or similar issue. I'm not quite sure what the issue is, whether it's a bad video driver or what. I noticed this issue back in public beta 5 and submitted it through the feedback assistant. I did the same again in public beta 6 and after the official release. Maybe they'll get around to fixing it in 10.10.1.

2009 27" iMac (2.66 i5) - smooth as glass
I've got a 27" 2009 that I just upgraded with 8GB of RAM and a 250GB/2TB Fusion Drive.
10.10 runs like melted butter.

I found a temporary solution, about Yosemite's graphics performance on my iMac Mid 2011.

I think, the problem is the Intel HD2000/HD3000 GPU integrated into CPU, and some aspects of the power manager in 10.10.
We need to prevent loading of the "AppleIntelHD3000Graphics.kext" on boot time, and we need to insert it with kextload command after user logon.
I make the following:
- move the kext to another directory
- rebuild kext cache
- reboot
And after every boot, i need to load the kext with kextload. This kext is required for hardware accelerated H.264 decoding, because Apple using Intel GPU to decode this. Without this, Apps with accelerated decoding randomly crhasing with 'SIGILL' (illegal instruction).

Upgraded my mid-2011 iMac to Yosemite. Very uneventful, really...just a couple of things:
- Seems like a longer boot time...and is it normal to get a progress bar with every boot before the login screen comes up?? I checked the hard drive with both Disk Utility and Drive Genius, all looks good...even defragged.
- If you have local web sites, expect Yosemite and other things to eff with them. You'll need to do some reconfiguring, although it might not be so much as a Yosemite issue as it is just newer versions of Apache etc. (See my other thread for more details.)
- I HATE the flat dock! Thankfully, I found an app that restores it to the 3-D look. (Yes, I LOVE the 3-D look. Always have. Then again, I joined the Mac world when Leopard was new, so that might be why.)

Anyone know a way to fix the chopping graphics? When I try show all my apps or minimise to the dock it's just stutters.
I'm going to upgrade my late 2007 iMac to Yosemite once Apple fixes the Time Machine problem in Yosemite.
Even though the non-retina display has it's flaws with the OS, it is running really well. I would say it is better than Mavericks.
