Is it a good idea? I have heard it tends to overheat running Yosemite.
The configuration is as such:
3,06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8 Giga RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

What is your experience?

Thanks for answering

I had a 15-inch 2009 MBP running Yosemite. I didn't notice any issues with it so you should be good to go.

If you don't have an SSD in your machine, mavericks and yosemite will run like crap. Throw an ssd in there and it'll be fine.

Disagree. I have a mid-2009 MBP 17" with a standard hard drive and Yosemite (and Mavericks before it) runs just fine.

Asking people performance questions is useless. What's "just fine" for one person is "totally unusable" for another.
