I would appreciate any feedback about experiences running Yosemite on this machine.

Mavericks is working well for me, and while I would like to use the iphone hotspot feature on Yosemite, I'm reluctant to sacrifice any speed or performance on this first version. In fact I don't even know for sure if that feature will work in this mid 2012 MBP.

Can anyone with a MBP of this age tell me how Yosemite is working and whether it is slow or glitchy ?

Thank you !
Erica

I have a MBP that's approximately this age, upgraded. Yosemite will slow it down. And glitches are unlikely to disappear.

Depending on the iPhone you have, wifi tethering may be available. As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Staying the course

Thanks Cubytus- just what I needed to hear.

My husband just upgraded to Yosemite on an old MBP, and brand new MBP and his iMac. Preview is crashing on all three devices (which sucks because he uses it for a ton of document review).

I think I'll stay with Mavericks for a good long time until this is worked out.

Thanks again

I have a 13" mid-2012 MacBook pro with Yosemite installed and the problems I have had are few in between. I had run it on and off since the public beta phase and fully migrated to the public release without restoring the Mac with no serious problems like Wi-Fi or compatible apps crashing constantly. Only have 4GB of memory on my machine.
