Yosemite - release date? Seriously.

When do you think Yosemite will be released? It seems like there are three possible dates:

-Thursday, October 16
-Tuesday, October 21
-Thursday, October 23

I don't know if Yosemite is actually ready and minted for release, but at the same time, I'm so tired of Mavericks and its' odd issuess that are Lion-eque.

But from the latest public beta it's so not ready... Animations were so much smoother on previous OS X, except probably mission control is better. But still it feels like a beta, lots of small bugs, one graphics glitch that really bugs me off is when you minimize a window, the window goes behind the dock just before it minimizes. What's up with that? I know it's minor but still, where's the attention to detail. They changed the dock and just forgot to update it's behavior... On a beta that's acceptable, I hope they delay it to polish it more... I don't think it will be any different than the latest beta if they're releasing it on Thursday.

That glitch you're talking about has existed since as far back as Leopard... I've always wondered why nobody at Apple looked into that.

One of the obvious poll options SHOULD be: Wednesday, October 22.

Why? Because Apple loves to release stuff on a Wednesday 1pm (EST) after an event. Look at the iPhone/iOS events historical record:

Event is on Tuesday Sept. 9; iOS release is on Wednesday Sept. 17, iPhone release on Friday Sept. 19.

Each year that's how it happens.

Theoretically, Wednesday Oct. 22 should be the expected Yosemite release date; but I hope it's the "Available later today" thing on Oct. 16 that others have said above!

I have to agree with the above sentiment. While the latest Public Beta is very solid and fast (in my case at least) there are a lot of interface quircks that shouldn't be there. Like the Dock contextual menu bug when pressing command after right clicking the Trash.

Either today after 1PM EST or on next Wednesday. Doubt they will release on thursday because:

1. Tomorrow event will be not about OS X.
2. Thursday is a bad day for release in many cases.

I don't think Yosemite will be released today before any official event announcement, which the event is tomorrow Oct. 16.

Apple DID release Mavericks after their event on Tuesday Oct. 22 2013.

I don't see why a Thursday is any worse or better than a Tuesday really, so in probability it will be released tomorrow afternoon at some point.

Prep your Mac tonight! Update all apps, etc....

I think it should be taken care of before the final release. It's really ugly. Such a shame that even I, as someone who's vehemently defended Apple in the past, am thinking that quality is no longer a thing at Apple.

Also notice the the tooltip above the Dock pointing at a nonexistent item.

If you aren't using it and have no interest it doing so, it shouldn't matter to you whether or not it is released, as there are other people who like Yosemite.

Does not really matter to me as, after the recent releases of IOS8 and the consequent debacle, I'll probably update to Yosemite sometime in January or February after the (inevitable) nausea and post release flaws have been sorted out.

The "best" Yosemite release date would have been one concurrent with the iOS 8 release date; since a lot of the hyped new features (Continuity, Handoff, iCloud Drive, etc.) work hand-in-hand with iOS devices.

There should not be a time gap between iOS 8 & Yosemite releases for user confusion of things like iCloud Drive.

That being said, concurrent release of iOS 8 and Yosemite would most literally have brought the Internet down to a crawl (at best), with all the mass downloads at once (or within the day/evening)!
