Yosemite SMS continuity problems to an android phone

Hello,

I am experiencing issues when I send SMS messages from Yosemite to a friend with an Android cell phone. The problem has manifested itself in two ways: (1) sometimes text messages are clipped and do not go through in their entirety and (2) a longer message will be broken up into many separate texts even though none of the separate texts are anywhere near the limit for characters in an SMS text message. I have an iPhone 5 and a 2013 rMBP both with up to date software.

It might be her phone... I know for a fact that some (android?) phones just refuse to receive texts or parts of texts.

My friend had an Android phone and some SMS texts just didn't go through if the signal wasn't good.
