When updating to Yosemite tonight I noticed the new system takes 5.16 GB of memory, when doing this does the system return the space that prior operating system used? I would think a lot of people would have problems with not having enough available hard drive space for this update. Am I missing something here? Sorry ahead of time if this is a bone head question.

Some are claiming they have more space after the installation is completed. How much disc space do you have available?

Because I have a fairly new MBP space isn't an issue, it's just that it seems like an added use of 15GB is a lot for a new operating system. If the old OS used lets say 12GB, then I'm looking at using up 27 GB just for an operating system.
