I haven't really seen anyone talking about this but I was able to successfully sign up for an Apple Card from my iPad and I already have the tracking number for my physical card too. I do not own an iPhone.

Just FYI.

Just curious - since the best cash back percentages are for using the iPhone to do the contactless transactions, why would you want to just use the Physical card? Also - out of curiosity - since the iPad does not have a wallet app how do you access the card to make payments?

The Apple Card is not just for iPhones. Both the iPhone & iPad come with the wallet app. As long as you have the wallet app, you can apply on any device. in the near future hopefully we can apply on PC/MAC.

I have the iPad mini 5 and don’t have a wallet “app”. I can access the card information under Settings but no app.

You can definitely get away with not having an iPhone and getting the Apple Card, however, you need an iOS device to make the payments. Weather it being an iPad or an iPhone...I mean...how else would you pay right now? Like, that’s a actual question. How would you do that? I don’t think Apple has a way for us to do that online at the moment.

If the iPad - at least that is the case with my Mini 5 - has no Wallet app, how would you pay aside from using it through an app or Safari? What would you bring near one of the readers in a store?

Hahah. You would just use the physical card! Lol

As an aside, I hope the iPad does get the Wallet app. Even though we obviously can’t use it for in person contactless payments, now that the Apple Card is here, it’d be so much useful for everything else the app offers (purchase history, tracking, etc).

The settings app, on both the iPad and iPhone - at least since 12.4 - does almost everything the Wallet App does, in terms of transaction history.

For the Apple Card, it provides full history, and the ability to pay from the settings app. For other cards, it provides a history of purchases made using that device.

That is true. However I’ve always thought it seems clunky and unintuitive to have all this functionality - basically a whole financial management app - buried in Settings. Especially when the same functionality is spun off into its own app on some iOS devices. I think it’d be more elegant if this functionality were in its own app everywhere, instead of in its own app on some devices and buried in Settings in others. The inconsistency just doesn’t seem very Apple like.
