I sent my credit card info to mac & mac sales about an hour after I decided to upgrade my shipping option but the phone number was nowhere to be found on the printable invoice. Then all the oddities of their site that I was blinded to by the insanley cheap price started to give me a very sick feeling it was at this point that I tried to find their number on their site and cancel my order all I got when I called was an EXTREMELY suspicious voicemail that sounded like it was recorded on a cell phone in a moving car. When I hung up the phone I was pissed then disgusted with myself for falling for such an obvious scam it was then that I went back on the internet to try find another number for the company but instead of typing the URL into the address bar I accidentally put into my search bar that is when I found the mac rumors thread about these *******s I immediatley went to the bank found that they had not yet attempted to use my debit card number so I drained my account and had them cut up my card and issue a new one thank god I saw this forum or I would be out better that a thousand dollars on an iBook that was most likely never coming

saved my ass too!

hi dimbulb - i have to thank you for that post, thanking the others for warning you about mac & mac sales. i've been looking for website reviews of macmacsales.com for days now. and your post was the first reference i found on it (aside from the numerous ads, sponsored links and free press releases they have scattered all over the web).

i was about to buy TWO ibooks from them  (one for me and one for my mom!!!). luckily one of my friends asked if i'm really sure that they are not bogus, that's the only time i started surfing for user reviews. i was blinded by the extremely amazing $799 come on. geez. i almost lost a LOT of money.

thanks for all the threads regarding that site.

Good to hear. Hope no one else makes the mistake of ordering from them. I think they're trying to confuse people with their name. The first time I saw their name mentioned around here, I thought (for a brief second) of Other World Computing which uses macsales.com as their URL. Very close and can be misleading.

if you're still looking for ibooks, I know amazon.com has them for 899 after mail in rebate. It's not as cheap but, as far as I can tell, they are a legitimate retailer:D

there's amazon???

to abstract and macmyday: of course i know amazon. :D it's just that i got lured in by the extremely low price... after that almost-fiasco, i went back to apple.com to check out their accredited resellers.

in my case, i have to check each one because of 1.) shipping and 2.) payment concerns. my plastic is not issued in the US (posted in another thread regarding this).

thanks maxterpiece - i'll check out those rebates again.
