Well, I still own a 4S, so I don't even have to worry about it - for now - but this week I learned that iOS10 lost the ability to "Send as SMS" by long-pressing on the message.

No more.

This can now be used to add emojis to the message after it was sent. WTF?
And if the other person doesn't have iOS 10, one get's a second message with "X has added an exclamation mark to the message" or the likes.

Sometimes, you really need to be sure it's sent as SMS right now (because you know the recipient is e.g. in a foreign country and has switched off data). Until iOS9, this worked very nicely...

But maybe I'm just too old to appreciate all the fancy iMessages crap they have come up with instead....
I use SMS to send meaningful (or downright important) text-messages to relatives, friends, co-workers (and sometimes even my boss).

Apple have also destroyed used-to-be-great iPods with irrelevant innovation.

They are annoying a lot of people out there at the moment.

Ah well, Apple Inc will make a great case study for Harvard Business School case study of a once-great company
that went into decline.

The option is still there, it simply appears between the "Copy" and "More..." options that show up at the bottom when you long press on an iMessage that you sent if it hasn't been delivered yet.

Hm. So it only works if it hasn't been delivered, yet?
Tried it on a co-workers SE (sent an iMessage to myself from it) and I couldn't get it to re-send as SMS.

On iOS9, I can re-send it as SMS.
I think.

That's how it always worked as it is an option to force the use of SMS instead of iMessage (rather to re-send something as SMS). If an iMessage has been delivered then there's nothing to substitute it with given that it's already delivered.

Yeah, I never worry about SMS unless I'm sending to an Android or other user, or if I have bad service and can't send an iMessage.

Bad service only exists in very remote regions here. Almost all areas in the country (save for a few spots) has some sort of coverage (to call mountain rescuers) and most even semi-popular summits or tourist-spots have great coverage so that visitors can send selfies and make FB-posts.

On the other hand it would be nice to have a new feature of sending as SMS even after delivered, but that's another story (one that involves multiple devices and so on)
