What does this error message mean? I have had my MBA since Feb, and never had this error. I get the error, in several languages, and the computer is frozen at that point. A restart gets me back up and running until it happens again, usually within; an hour or so. Always while using Safari. HELP!!:(

Still confused

So, this error has nothing to do with the MBA? It is an OSX error? I got no help from the apple support site. I guess I have to re-install the OS, and just start over?? Anyone? Thanks.:confused:

Well there are a large number of things that can cause a kernel panic. One is hardware issues, like a failing hard disk (although it doesn't sound like that's your issue), bad RAM (again probably not the case), motherboard issues, or problems with OS vs applications.

What third party apps have you installed?

I was getting these kernel panics all the time while using my MacBook Air (grey screen of death), especially while watching videos, & using Parallels. I found a cheap solution, haven't had a Kernel Panic since.

My MacBook Air no longer shuts down one of its processors (because it doesn't overheat anymore with this laptop lapdesk), and haven't had any kernel panics either.

I downloaded it. I just dont know what to do with it. There is no help file, and no support for it. I think it is assumed that we all know what all of the numbers mean, but I dont. Help please.... thanks:eek:

Everyone is on this firefox kick. Its not all that great compared to safari, honestly. I don't see any improvements, and no, I'm not a newbie at the web. I think firefox is just a lemming choice right now. Sorry.

Alright. NOW, I have downloaded CoolBook, Read the Undervolting info, tried to replicate the examples given, and all to no avail.

I don't really "get" this whole CoolBook and Undervolting concept. Why should we have to do ANYthing like this with a brand new computer, just to keep it from crashing. This baby ran perfectly fine for 4 months, and only started crashing after the last OS upgrade (10.5.3) I havent added any new software, or downloaded anything questionable. In fact, with the limited HD space, on these MBA's, I have done my best to resist downloading at all. I dont have a loud fan or heat issue that I'm aware of. In fact, I have never even HEARD the fan come on!

Any comments or thoughts about why these measures are to be taken will certainly be appreciated. I really DON'T want to drag this thing back to the Apple store, if I can avoid it. Thanks! :)

I'm not an expert on coolbook since I don't have a MBA, but I think people were suggesting that coolbook may have been the cause of the problems, not the solution to them.

NC Macguy asked if you had coolbook installed because if you did it might have been responsible for the kernal panics. From what I've read coolbook allows you to control the voltage of the processors. You can apparently run the processors at slightly less voltage then apple chooses to out of the box which lets them run cooler at the expense of stability. If you were to undervolt them too far Kernal panics would be the result. Since you didn't have it installed something else is at fault, and you certainly don't need to install coolbook.

That said, I'm not sure what to suggest doing. If this were happening to me I'd probably go w/ the clean install route... it's probably overkill, but for me at least, the time spent reinstalling everything would be less then the time spent searching for a solution. That's just my opinion though, and I'm sure others will disagree, so take it with a grain of salt.

Yea, I'm with you. I am going to just start over with a clean install. I could have already done it twice by now, with all the time I've spent chasing the "problem". Oh, I dunno, I don't think you've done a bad thing, necessarily. Once you get your kernel panic sorted out, you may enjoy some of the battery life increases many of us cookbook users are getting. I know it's made a difference with battery and heat for my MBA. C'mon, it's only 10 bucks.... ;)

Well... since you put it THAT way... LOL. Yea, I can see where there could be some advantages with CookBook. But, not going there til I'm comfortably numb with my Air again... Thanks for the nudge though!:)
