My predictions:

Not OLED for now. Currently too expensive for a 10 inch device. If it's 7 inches, it's possible.

No 3G or phone network. My guess though would be this is a device Apple is gearing for the iPhone owners to "must have" for their iPhones. Tethering using your iPhone network data. Software that will make your iPhone the camera for conferences. Use your iPhone as a touchpad/mouse, game control, ability to multitask your iphone OS (using the tablet) once connected, Et al.

Latest version of Open GL gearing this device as a PSP competitor at current iPhone game prices (from $0.99 to premium approx $9.99)

School textbooks, ebooks, magazine and newspaper subscriptions at very competitive pricing.

Some analysts still argue what's the biggest use of the Apple tablet especially if you already own an iPhone with tons of premium apps and a Macbook Pro. It will be pricey and less computing power than a cheaper Macbook. Like I mentioned above, my guess is that this device is an iPhone owners wetdream. Something that the iPhone owners market is gonna kill for. And non-iPhone owners to crave for both devices. A product even Steve Jobs himself is giddy with excitement, if the rumor serves true.

Why would it be crippled if it won't have 3G or network data support? Apparently this might be one of the big letdowns for the rumor geeks . I'm guessing this based on the pricing rumor of $800 to $1000. If this'll have carrier subsidized pricing like your iPhone, prices wouldn't be as bloated. Get back to me on the 27th if I'm wrong with this prediction. Just my 2 cents.

We have to consider what Apple wants with this product. That's the reason why tech analysts couldn't put a finger how this tablet will succeed with its bloated pricing (like the Macs). It's not only for the gadget geeks. It's for the usability of the common populace, the way they marketed the iPhone. And I think their biggest mark here is media subscriptions.

If not, then it'll flop.

If it's priced at 200-400 bucks, then it'll do well, but if it's $899 then people would just add the extra hundred bucks to have a full fledged macbook.

Bottom line, if Steve Jobs says people need it, everyone will buy it, no matter the cost. SJ will create the market, the demand and once again Apple's "unicorn" device will break more download records, sales records and profitability forecasts.

The MS fanboys will flood the Apple forums saying what a pc of $@%^ it is. Apple fanboys will cry because it's missing the "key" feature so it will fail.

Hundreds of thousands of consumers that don't read any forums will buy the unicorn and be so happy they have one.

To me, the goal of the Cube was not to create a new market with an amazing device. Also, the Apple TV was predicted to be a failure. It didn't really introduce anything groundbreaking.

I get that you're trying to prove Apple isn't fireproof, but there seems to be a demand for a Tablet device/ media consumption device.

I cannot wait for Wednesday.

True. I was showing that Apple isn't fireproof, but it was mainly in jest.

Apple TV "predicted to be a failure?" Not the pre-buzz, people were genuinely excited about the rumors - they just turned out to be a downer.

As for the Tablet? I hope it works out. I just (so far) can't see how it fits into my lifestyle. I agree that I'm not the "typical consumer," but hey... I'm being selfish in my proclamations!

Nevermind my predictions, I'm still stuck on figuring out if this device can run an iPhone OS-type OS but not need to be tied to an iTunes account? By that I mean, if the device is $999 or even $699 AND requires you to still own a second computer then I'll be interested in seeing how the general public reacts to it (ie the type of person that would never even consider why you would need more than a single computer). The argument you can make for the iPod Touch is that it's still an iPod.. yes it can use a bunch of apps but it's still an iPod and needs iTunes. If this device is marketed as a portable computer, there's probably a significant amount of people that would buy this as their sole computer and I wonder if it required to be sync'd with iTunes if they would still go out and buy it.

Having said that, I'm expecting an iPhone OS, or at least more iPhone than OSX, ability to run multiple apps in either native iPhone resolution with multiple apps displayed at once (and the ability to actually rotate the app to landscape without rotating the tablet), or some kind of full-screen mode as well as a specific suite of apps just for the tablet (whether it be pre-loaded iLife/iWork or a separate app store). I think that we'll get some kind of expose-like app switching. I think Apple will release an eReader app but will also allow publications to sell their magazines as "apps" to be read and distributed all from within that app. The only thing I have no guess on is how we'll input text/information - whether it be a soft iPhone keyboard, split keyboard, stylus, voice recognition or something completely new. I really couldn't even guess. Pretty excited though!
