I just got back from buying an iPhone and I tried to activate it. It verifies my address, but then it can't validate my bank information. I've typed it in several times, but I have no idea why it won't go through!

O2 has been ZERO help. They just tell me to call the bank. What parameters is this trying to validate on? Postcode? Name? Address?

iTunes is giving me zero feedback on what could be the problem. All I can do is sit here with an iPhone that can't do anything! Arrrrgh!

Your bank will try to validate on nearly every piece of information you put in, name, address, even phone numbers and email addresses are sometimes used for validation. But generally its the name address and dob that is used for validation. Double check youve typed your sort code (xx-xx-xx) and account number (xxxxxxxx) and youve spelt your name, address just the way it is on your bank statements. O2 aren't going to be much help if its the bank thats denying the validation.

I had this as well with a Citibank/Lloyds account. When I used an alternative account in Natwest it went through right away. I called 2302 from my iPhone and they confirmed that it was a problem with certain banks at the moment and it might take days to get it fixed.

Do you have another bank you can use in the mean time? Or borrow someones?

I have a Natwest account, but no money in it. I was trying to use my Citibank account details and that's what couldn't be verified. I put my Natwest details in and it took them!

When will O2 try to charge my account? At registration or in one month? If it's in one month I can put some money in that account on Monday. Otherwise I probably shouldn't proceed at this point using Natwest, huh?
